My kids called this a "face" for the obvious reason that I used to decorate them like faces for them; however it is also known as a toad in the hole or egg in the hole. It's an easy nutritious breakfast just about any child will love! Here how I made mine"
1 piece of sprouted grain bread (or gluten free)
1 egg
2 tablespoons pasture butter or coconut oil
sea salt, ground black pepper
Cut a round out of the piece of bread and set aside. Melt the butter in a pan. Add the bread and break the egg into the hole. Cook for about a minute or two until the egg begins to set and gently flip with a spatula to cook finish cooking the egg. Decorate as you wish. As I said I used to decorate them like faces for my kids - using strips of red bell pepper, grape tomatoes, slices of chicken sausage, shredded cheese - whatever your children like.
Toast the round you cut out in the butter and use it as a "cap" for the face!
